Beloved Sisters,
Below is a word of exhortation from sister Badriyaa. Sister Joy and I have read it and believe it is of the LORD. Please read it for your own edification unto holiness, meekness, and subjection to Christ! Indeed He Himself is all our righteousness by His precious blood!
Love in Christ,
sister Preethi
The Fairness of Christ's Bride
by Sister Badriyaa
Song of Solomon 4:7
Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.
I was reading Genesis12 with the children today and I saw something that I had never encountered before in the Scriptures.
It was very significant to me that Abram tells Sarai "Behold now I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon." (Genesis 12:11)Though he was implying to her physical attributes,I believe I saw something in the Spirit regarding the heart of God.Men desire/lust/envy/ and would even kill (Genesis 12:12)for a beautiful woman. How much more the heart of God for what He considers beautiful? How jealous would He become for His wife?,whose adorning is not that outward adorning but the ornaments of a meek and quiet spirit which in the sight of God is of great price.A beautiful woman is considered valuable/honorable/esteemed in the world, how about in the eyes of the Lord? Sarai's carnal beauty preserved her life:"When the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say,This is his wife:and they will kill me,BUT they will save thee alive."Genesis 12:12 BUT it was her inner beauty, the inner man whose adorning was of a meek and quiet spirit, which saved her soul.It was in her obedience and godly fear that she not only saved her soul but her husband's with her("my soul shall live because of thee" Genesis 12:13 & ..He(Pharaoh) entreated Abram well for her sake."Genesis 12:16).She was placed in a very fearful circumstance. She was given into the hands of another man for who knows how long of a period of time, yet she entrusted the keeping of her soul unto God as a faithful Creator and was not afraid or having any fear or amazement while subjecting herself to her husband's will.Despite her circumstances, she looked to God,and because of this the Lord was jealous over her.He beheld for Himself that she was fair unto Him,because she kept His ways and transgressed not.And as the Egyptians would be ready to slay Abram in the heat of their jealousy over her beauty,so God much the more was kindled when beholding her chaste conversation coupled with fear and He behaved Himself as a jealous husband for His bride. It is written in Genesis12:17 "And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife."
We have a blessed office in the ordinance of God as wives. We have power over our heads because of the angels.Yet this power is accessible to us only if we are keeping ourselves unspotted from the world.(Romans 12:2.."be not conformed to this world:but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.")If we maintain the ornaments of beauty in which the Lord delights (meek and quiet spirit),He will gird Himself and fight for us.No matter how great the foe or how innumerable the army, the Lord will make Himself ready to avenge His fair and beloved bride.
